Games are a must when working with kids! Here are some of my favorite! Some games are obvious counseling games and others I add a therapeutic twist to. ;)
This one is great for groups! Here is the link:
2.
This game is great to use with young children. It is very similar to spot it, when an emotion is matched we discuss links to that emotion ( past experiences, memories and we even ID coping skills specific to that emotion). This is also very fast paced and helps strengthen and build neuro connections, not mention it is great for rapport building. Link to our purchase: https://amzn.to/43XZ6bZ
3. Jenga!! Here is a cheaper version of jenga!
I love to use jenga to help with self expression and answering the tough questions. For example: I have used this in family therapy dyads that struggled with communication. Each member wrote down questions they wanted to ask the other but hadn't felt comfortable verbalizing.. When the block was drawn the answer was read and discusssed. Using this game based approach helped ease the tension and allowed for connections to be made.
